5. Simulation software

Remodulating the sounds of any General MIDIdevice, it is possible to play pentadecaphonic sounds.

A Simulation Programme has been implemented, running onPC under Microsoft Windows 98 or more , performing the following features:

to play about 90 pentadecaphonic notes on a virtual keyboard
to play the mean scales of any note (major, minor, blues, etc.) or study any sound combination
to play predefined triads (major, minor) or study any sound combination, using also the Plomp's 'Theory of Consonance' (see [3])
to edit, record and play up to three pentadecaphonic tracks with up to 127 different tones.

An ergonomic study to find the optimizedallocation of the 15 notes on the keyboard has been performed, withthe following results:

- 8 notes could be on the white keys and 7notes on the black ones, with the following keyboardscheme:

Besides, a prototype of a phisical keyboard has been implemented and, by interfacing it to a PC programme, it is possible to play 'live' pentadecaphonic music.
